New Delhi: A bomb threat targeting the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi led to heightened security measures on Friday night. An anonymous email sent to AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner Lav Agarwal warned of an explosion at the premises, claiming that a bomb had been planted inside the Ambedkar Auditorium.

The threat was received around 8:30 PM, coinciding with preparations to screen a biographical film on social reformer Jyotirao Phule. The screening was part of the AP government’s weekly initiative to showcase films for senior central officials. The timing of the email, coupled with the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, escalated concerns among the officials present.

Delhi Police responded swiftly, deploying bomb and dog squads to conduct a thorough search of the premises. No suspicious items were found, and the threat was ultimately declared a hoax. However, the incident raised concerns due to the Bhavan’s close proximity to key government installations, including Parliament and India Gate.

Officials stated that security across the national capital has been intensified in the wake of the Pahalgam incident. A formal case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to trace the origin of the threatening email.
