North Andhra is reeling from intense rainfall triggered by a cyclonic storm. In Anakapalli district, the water level at the Tandava Reservoir has reached a dangerous level, prompting officials to open two gates and release 600 cubic meters of water.
Authorities have issued warnings to residents of low-lying areas. In Alluri district’s Chintapalli Agency, landslides have struck the GK Street Mandal at Chattrayipalli, destroying several houses below. Villagers managed to rescue four people trapped under the debris, though there are reports of additional individuals being missing. Search and rescue operations have been initiated.
A team led by the Sileru SI has arrived at the disaster site to commence rescue efforts. Additionally, landslides have occurred on the Sileru Ghat Road, affecting the Narsipatnam-Bhadrachalam interstate highway that connects Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. The highway is obstructed by mud and rocks from landslides over approximately 16 kilometers, causing significant traffic disruptions.
